Environmental Awareness Day: Join Us and Take Care of the Planet

Join the Environmental Awareness Day and take care of the planet with small actions

Day by day, Mexico faces the effects of the climate crisis that manifest themselves through heat waves, atypical rains, floods and hurricanes, among other natural phenomena that are a consequence of the lifestyle that prevails in our society. Against this backdrop, Environmental Awareness Day, commemorated every September 27, seeks to reflect on the current challenges and promote responsible practices that raise awareness among the population regarding the care of ecosystems and the impact of our actions on the planet.

The importance of raising environmental awareness in Mexico

In 2025, Mexico suffers from historic weather conditions. According to the National Meteorological Service, June of this year was the rainiest month since 1941. This phenomenon occurred in a context marked by the impact of Hurricane Erick, the influence of Cyclone Barry, low pressure channels and several tropical waves. Added to this were the ravages of Hurricane Erick in Oaxaca, tropical storm Lorena in Baja California Sur and several heat waves that raised temperatures above 45 °C in different states of the country.

Environmental Awareness Day reminds us that dealing with natural phenomena begins with the everyday. On this path, Circular Lifea civil organization dedicated to promoting environmental education and culture, promotes initiatives that strengthen citizen awareness so that the population can contribute to the necessary change to reduce the impact of the climate crisis and preserve the country's natural resources.

Actions aimed at generating responsible habits for the care of the planet

  1. Keeping sewage drains free of debris. Avoiding littering on public roads and in the drainage system reduces the risk of flooding and allows rainwater to flow.
  1. Recycling and waste separation. Sorting waste into organic, inorganic and recyclable, in addition to reducing accumulation in streets and landfills, allows us to give a new use to materials such as plastic, glass, paper or metal, promoting a cleaner and more efficient circular economy.
  1. Responsible use of water. Adopting habits such as repairing leaks, reusing water in the home and avoiding waste in everyday activities helps to address the growing scarcity of this resource.
  1. Efficient energy consumption. Saving electricity by using energy-saving light bulbs, unplugging unused appliances and taking advantage of natural light reduces household expenses and reduces energy demand and polluting emissions that affect the climate.
  • Sustainable transport. Choosing to walk, cycle or carpool helps reduce traffic in cities, improves air quality and reduces dependence on fossil fuels.

  • Reforestation. Planting and nurturing trees strengthens urban and rural ecosystems, improves air quality by capturing CO. helps regulate temperature, protect the city's biodiversity, and create natural spaces.. In this sense, reforestation reforestation is key to the restoration of ecosystems.

"Environmental awareness begins when we understand what the environment is, recognize the problems that affect it and assume that each person can contribute solutions from their daily lives. Even the simplest gestures have a positive impact on the future of the planet and on our own health. No effort will be enough without the participation of each person, together with the shared responsibility of governments, companies and institutions," said Sandra Gazca, spokesperson for Vida Circular.

Environmental Awareness Day is an invitation to reflection that proposes immediate action to preserve the future of the environment as a dignified and safe habitat in full coexistence with our surroundings. Join us to take care of our environment!
