Recycling of plastics among Mexicans.
THIRD SURVEY, 2025
Recycling habits in Mexico
This study is part of Vida Circular's efforts to promote the generation of knowledge that contributes to strengthening the recycling culture in the country. Thanks to the collaboration with P&G Mexico and ALPLA Mexico, Caribbean and Central America, we seek to better understand how the perception, knowledge and habits of Mexicans regarding recycling have evolved between 2023 and 2025.
The survey, conducted by Consulta Mitofsky, shows a society increasingly aware of the environmental impact of its actions and with a growing willingness to adopt sustainable behaviors. However, the challenge remains to turn this awareness into daily practice, strengthening confidence in the system and creating the necessary conditions to make recycling an accessible option for everyone.
With this third consecutive study , Vida Circular, P&G and ALPLA reaffirm their commitment to the generation of information that drives habit change and the construction of a more responsible and sustainable future for Mexico.

SECOND SURVEY, 2024
The study "Plastics Recycling among Mexicans 2024", conducted nationwide, offers a deep insight into the Mexican population's relationship with the environment and plastics recycling. It highlights that 82.5% of those surveyed recognize their responsibility in the pollution caused by plastics, reflecting an increase from 78.3% the previous year. This data underscores the importance of continuing to promote collective solutions to address this environmental challenge.
In addition, the survey reveals that 4 out of 10 people want to do more for the environment, but consider that there is a lack of information, which represents a key opportunity to strengthen environmental education. It is also observed that waste separation continues to be more frequent at home (51.3%) than at work (33.4%) or at school (24.1%), which highlights areas for improvement in different contexts.
This study is a valuable guide for all of us-government, society, recyclers and brands-to work together and prevent plastics from ending up in landfills. The awareness is there, and so is the will - it's time to strengthen the circular economy and promote sustainable practices to build a cleaner, more responsible future together!

FIRST SURVEY, 2023
The study "Plastic Recycling among Mexicans 2023", based on a nationwide survey, provides valuable insight into the Mexican population's relationship with the environment and plastic recycling. A highlight is that nearly 8 out of 10 people surveyed recognize their responsibility for plastic pollution, underscoring the urgent need for collective solutions to address this global challenge.
This study provides valuable information to identify areas where all stakeholders, including government, society, recyclers and brands, can collaborate to prevent plastics from reaching landfills and becoming waste. This study shows that the awareness and the will are there; let's take advantage of it to join together in a virtuous circle that will make the Circular Economy effective and expand and ensure a more sustainable future for all.
