Flexible packaging produced with a focus on sustainability

Vida Circular and OMP reinforce their commitment to sustainability in Mexico

Caring for the environment requires collaboration between industry, government and society. With this vision, Vida Circular and Operadora Mexicana de Polietileno (OMP) announced a strategic alliance to strengthen actions in favor of the circular economy and promote solutions that encourage the adoption of sustainable habits in the country.

An alliance for environmental awareness

OMP, a 100% Mexican company with more than 50 years of experience in the development of flexible packaging, joins Vida Circular to provide society with information and alternatives to understand the benefits of the correct disposal of materials.

Vida Circular's spokesperson, Sandra Gazca, stressed the importance of raising awareness among all sectors of society: "Addressing the impact of proper plastic management requires more than good intentions; it involves building alliances. With OMP as an example, we see a clearer commitment on the part of organizations to be part of the solutions to environmental challenges".

Environmental commitment and leadership in recycling culture

Innovation and sustainable solutions

OMP has a specialized engineering and innovation area, focused on designing flexible packaging that responds to market needs and, at the same time, reduces environmental impact.

Among its actions are the following:

  • Development of products that favor environmental protection.
  • Collaboration with Iberdrola to promote the transition to renewable energies and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Integration in the Organization for a Circular Economy (OFEC), with the objective of disseminating the responsible use of polymers and strengthening natural resource conservation practices.

The general director of OMP, Alfredo Salome, emphasized that caring for the environment requires clear regulations and the sum of efforts between sectors, pointing out that its purpose is to become a benchmark for other companies in terms of sustainability.

Circular economy as a strategic axis

OMP has incorporated the circular economy as a central part of its business strategy. The company works to reintegrate the waste generated in its processes into the production chain, thereby reducing the use of virgin raw materials and minimizing pressure on natural resources.

This approach seeks to demonstrate that flexible packaging can evolve into more sustainable models when responsibly designed and managed with a full life-cycle view.

Building a recycling culture in Mexico

The collaboration between Vida Circular and OMP is not limited to industrial actions, but also seeks to encourage community participation. Both organizations agree that moving towards a more efficient model implies:

  • Promote the culture of recycling as a daily habit.
  • Promote solutions with lower environmental impact, both in industry and in daily consumption.
  • Strengthen environmental education, providing society with tools to understand the value of reusing and recycling materials.

The alliance between Vida Circular and OMP is a significant step towards a more sustainable development model in Mexico. With technological innovation, business commitment and the building of multi-sector alliances, this collaboration seeks not only to reduce the environmental impact of flexible packaging, but also to inspire other companies and communities to join the path of the circular economy.
