Recycling of plastics among Mexicans.
SECOND SURVEY, 2024
The study "Plastics Recycling among Mexicans 2024", conducted nationwide, offers a deep insight into the Mexican population's relationship with the environment and plastics recycling. It highlights that 82.5% of those surveyed recognize their responsibility in the pollution caused by plastics, reflecting an increase from 78.3% the previous year. This data underscores the importance of continuing to promote collective solutions to address this environmental challenge.
In addition, the survey reveals that 4 out of 10 people want to do more for the environment, but consider that there is a lack of information, which represents a key opportunity to strengthen environmental education. It is also observed that waste separation continues to be more frequent at home (51.3%) than at work (33.4%) or at school (24.1%), which highlights areas for improvement in different contexts.
This study is a valuable guide for all of us-government, society, recyclers and brands-to work together and prevent plastics from ending up in landfills. The awareness is there, and so is the will - it's time to strengthen the circular economy and promote sustainable practices to build a cleaner, more responsible future together!
